Sin - "Sin as Doubleness"

Sin. The idea no one likes. We either mock the idea of sin through commercials encouraging us to indulge in sin (Eat that extra piece of chocolate!) – or – sin is named as an abusive idea. What could be worse than telling someone they are a sinner? That there is something wrong with them?

What if our discomfort with sin is because we have misunderstood what the idea actually is? What is – belief in sin – actually set us free? What if this idea was the key to unlocking a new and joy-filled life.

Join us as we spend the next several weeks unpacking – the surprising freedom of belief in sin.

That should make any curious person interesting in asking – Who was Jesus of Nazareth? What was it about Jesus – that made people from all over the world, from all backgrounds – find their deepest longings met in Him?

Seeking Jesus: "The Son of God" (2nd Service)

The person who most altered the course of human history is without question Jesus of Nazareth. Within a few generations of his life and death, millions of humans throughout the world worshipped Him as a god. The movement he started soon included people of all ethnicities, rich and poor, slave and free. They found in Jesus rest from their anxiety, hope for their fears, and comfort from their pain.

That should make any curious person interesting in asking – Who was Jesus of Nazareth? What was it about Jesus – that made people from all over the world, from all backgrounds – find their deepest longings met in Him?

The Easy Yoke | How we change: "Teaching"

Weary. Worn-out. Burdened. Tired. Few words better capture our age of hurry, which makes the offer of Jesus in Matthew 11 one tailored for our age. Come to me…Jesus says…and you will find rest for your souls.

Rest for my soul. I will take that, but this where things get confusing. Jesus’ offer for rest does not come with a pillow, a five step self-help plan, or the perfect app to download. To have rest, we have to take up – His yoke? A yoke is symbol of work. Physical exhaustion. Jesus says His yoke is easy, but how can He in the same breath call us to take up a yoke, and promise rest for our souls?

We are going to spend 12 weeks together exploring that tension. Exploring how to trade in our weariness for rest. Exchange our hurry for peace. Learning what it is to live a life of grace. Feeling what it is like to live a life with a lighter burden.

Join us as we become students of Jesus, and take up His easy yoke.
