At Liberty, we value our Seniors! We know you have great wisdom, gifts and energy to serve the Lord and others. We want to help you find your place of service, growth and fellowship.
Senior Opportunities for service
Seniors are invited to serve in many of our ministries and many already do. We encourage you to try a few in order to find a place that you not only enjoy but also benefit from.
Here are some common places that Seniors serve at Liberty:
Missionary Care Ministry-this ministry meets monthly to work on projects that serve our missionaries and to hear from missionaries that are home on furlough.
Children’s Ministry-many of our seniors serve in our Children’s Ministry on Sunday morning or Wednesday evening. You can contact our Pastor of Children’s Ministry-Mike Akert at mikea@lbchurch.org
Helping Hands-this ministry is for Senior Men. They do service projects for people in our church and the community. You can contact Duane Eriks for more information at djeriks@verizon.net
Worship Ministry-do you have a musical gift? Voice or instrumental? We’d love to have you use them in our Worship Ministry. Contact Pastor Steve Klingbeil at stevek@lbchurch.org
Women’s Ministry-many of our senior women serve in our Women’s Ministry as teachers, small group leaders, behind the scenes administration and more. Contact the church for more information.
Other Ministry-please don’t feel limited to these ministries, there are too many options to list here. Look around and find a ministry that interests you.
Fellowship and Bible Study Opportunities for Seniors
Seniors are involved in a lot of our fellowship and bible study ministries. We encourage you to find a place that you enjoy and benefit from.
Here are some common places that Seniors attend for fellowship and bible study:
Retired Men’s Bible Study-meets on the first Thursday of the month at the Viking Chili Bowl in Valparaiso. Contact Karl Kissinger at (219) 462-6714 for more information.
Faithbuilders Small Church-meets at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings in Room 140A. This class is led by Mike Pellin and you can reach him at (219) 689-2999 or UTG21MVP@aol.com
Homebuilders Small Church-meets at 9:30am on Sunday mornings in Room 140C. This class is led by Dennis and Lona Werner, you can reach them at 462-2208.
Victorious Women Small Church-meets at 11am on Sunday mornings in Room 140D. This class is led by Vivian Sheriff and you can reach her at (219) 464-0333 or vivbruce@aol.com.
Watermark Small Group-meets at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings in Room 140B. This class is led by Len and Joyce Spoolstra and you can reach them at (219) 464-8401.
Wednesday Night Men’s Bible Study-many senior men attend this ministry that meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm in Room 250 for Bible study and prayer.
Women In the Word-many senior women attend this ministry that meets on Tuesday mornings at 9 am during the school year.
