The Hand of Our God

“The Hand of Our God”
Sunday’s “Celebration Service” was just that, a celebration.
Nearly 1,500 persons gathered together in one place to worship God. Led by two choirs and half a dozen of our musicians, we lifted our voices to celebrate our great God.
Together we listened as two young ladies, Anneliese Santhouse and Marissa Weston, told of what they learned as they read through the entire Bible over the summer. Wonderful!
Scott Balsam told how God has delivered him from a lifetime addiction to alcohol and cocaine. My heart was filled with emotion as he spoke of celebrating, just a few days earlier, his 49th birthday, his first sober birthday since he was 12. Praise God!
Martha Pool then told how God sustained her as she cared for her daughter, Kathy, as she succumbed to cancer. But she also told how God used Kathy’s cancer to reach Martha’s husband and convict him of his need for Christ. Hallelujah!
Dr. Dan Green, former interim pastor at Liberty, brought a message from Psalm 72, reminding us that, despite what is happening around us, God is in control and God will rule in the end and for all time.
But it was the choir’s closing song that, at least for me, was a most fitting conclusion to this spectacular service of celebration.
How can you explain the growth of Liberty Bible Church from a small Sunday School into a large, vibrant church? It wasn’t man’s effort.
It was the hand of God that brought it about. And that’s what the song reminded us. Here are the words:
Take a look around, See what God has done;
So many lives have changed, so many lost have come.
We have seen His Spirit; move, we have seen what love can do!
The hand of our God is on this place.
He has shown us His favor, his goodness and grace.
Year after year, day after day, He has been faithful in every way.
The hand of our God is on this place.
Broken hearts renewed, fragile faith restored;
Shattered lives made new by the power of the Lord.
We have seen His Spirit move, we have seen what love can do!
The hand of our God is on this place.
He has shown us His favor, his goodness and grace.
Year after year, day after day, He has been faithful in every way.
The hand of our God is on this place.
From generation to generation He has been our strength.
From everlasting to everlasting He will reign. He will reign!
The hand of our God is on this place.
He has shown us His favor, his goodness and grace.
Year after year, day after day, He has been faithful in every way.
The hand of our God is on this place.
I can only say “Amen” and “thank you, God.”
Cheerfully.
